Job Description

Uses SolidWorks to provide support to engineers by developing layouts, drawings and designs that meet engineering specifications.

Essential Function and Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with design engineers to produce 3D models and 2D drawings
  • Make revisions and corrections to existing drawings when requested and as needed
  • Design parts based on written and verbal descriptions from design engineers
  • Work closely with the production plant to ensure that the drawings convey the correct information and are error free
  • Further develops 3D models based on input from Design Engineers
  • Actively participate in company and departmental continuous improvement programs
  • May perform other duties as required and/or assigned

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient in the use of SolidWorks weldments through work experience or education
  • Must have very proficient GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance) skills with high confidence of its application; a minimum of 3 years required or a certificate of knowledge based skill sets, both are preferred
  • Understanding of sheet metal in manufacturing and ANSI Weld symbols
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill necessary as well as the ability to multitask and work in a strong team setting
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Preferred: Associates Degree in Mechanical Design/Drafting
