Job Description

Under the guidance of the VP of Operations, this role oversees all manufacturing activities within the assigned department(s). Responsible for maintaining quality, meeting production goals, and providing a safe work environment.  Ensures operation of the department within established lean principles and budget.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Possess the ability to drive efficiency within cell teams, understand labor rates & costs, and have proven experience to increase efficiency.
  • Leads teams by implementing repeatable processes through work instructions, standard work, & best practices.  
  • Cross train associates providing a flexible workforce while still maintaining standards.
  • Manages the daily tasks associated with labor management, labor entry, attendance tracking, and personnel issues.
  • Trains and ensures employees follow root cause problem solving to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC).
  • Directs safety programs/trainings to protect employees against harm and maintain safe working conditions. 
  • Provides training, guidance, and timely feedback through day-to-day feedback and periodic performance appraisals.
  • Observes team members using equipment to verify that equipment is being operated and maintained according to quality assurance standards.
  • Maintains 5S principles and lean daily charting on SQDC.
  • Works with Supply Chain department to implement production plans. 
  • Responsible for plan execution to meet department and plant objectives for SQDC.
  • Responsible for production quality control. Adjust as necessary during shift to produce product within specifications. 
  • Participate, provide updates, and typically run S&OP
  • May perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of employee supervisory experience 
  • 1-3 years of knowledge related to performance appraisals, disciplinary reviews, and monitoring labor to standards.
  • Proficient in accessing, reading, and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Proficient in the use of ERP systems, Excel/Word/Outlook.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery. 
  • Manual dexterity is required for using various tools and operating machinery.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Preferred: An associate degree in business, manufacturing, industrial supervision, or related area
  • Preferred: Knowledge of process improvement techniques
  • Preferred: Knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance 
  • Preferred: Lean Manufacturing experience

Physical Demands & Working Environment:

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Manual ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility with 6:00 OR 7:00 am start times and covering weekend hours.
